Without pefrectionism you will make progress ;)

Times change, but creativity remains and you have to keep feeding it. Children (and adults too) like to stare at screens (yes, me too) and therefore they don't take enough time to be creative. In my workshops I am creative with children and that is possible without and with a screen, read on quickly.

The best ideas start with pencil and paper

It's 2023, we've come out of a stagnant period of lockdowns and it's time we threw out our creativity again and especially children!

“Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun.”

-Albert Einstein.

Creativity is wealth and in my workshops I want to encourage and develop children's creativity, also with the tools available today, because you can also use smartphones and tablets creatively (see my workshop making gif below)

One has a lot of creativity and the other has to dig to find it, one through drawing and the other through words, and these differences may be there in my workshop. I find the differences very interesting, because I have seen so many creations and none are the same! From Squidgame, Huggywuggy (or Kissymissy I never know), Encanto, the Turtles and from ballet class to the adventures of super turd. I want to give more workshops, because I think children should create more.

Children are getting less and less time and space for creative play. We live in a performance-oriented society, where making mistakes is unlearned. In my workshop I would like to let children play more with their creativity. I want them to use their imagination, I want them to make mistakes and color outside the lines. Let them use their own imagination.

See Ken Robinson's TED talk

"Every education system on earth has the same hierarchy of subjects. Everyone. Doesn't matter where you go. You'd think it would be different, but it isn't. At the top are maths and languages, then the humanities. At the bottom are the arts . Everywhere on Earth".

Staring at this fragment, I decided to do my best to push arts upwards.

These three workshops are available:

Make gifs, make booklets and Minecraft: build a replica

The principles of these workshops have the same basis. All three workshops I offer meet 21st century skills: problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, communication and I stimulate creative thinking. They are easy to put into practice and adapt to the themes of the classes.

Make gifs

Gifs, you see them everywhere on the internet, but how do you make them? In this workshop I show how to do that and the children can get to work themselves using stop motion animation. Materials such as pencil/paper, lego, clay, dolls etc.

All the children themselves need is a smartphone, which they can use to take pictures.

At the end of the workshop they will have a series of gifs ready that you can send to family and friends. This workshop lasts 1.5 hours to 2 hours

(Comic) Make a booklet

In this workshop the children receive a blank book of approximately 4 pages and they can fill it with their own stories. There are plenty of books for inspiration, because one wants to tell his story like the life of a loser and the other like in Dogman, for example. Where help is needed I will help with drawing. Materials such as pencils, erasers, rulers and sharpeners are available, that's all it takes to create a masterpiece.

You can take the booklet home or continue it at the next workshop.

This workshop usually lasts 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

Minecraft: Build a replica

A 3-hour Minecraft workshop for students from group 5 to group 8, supervised by Linda van Bruggen. Students learn to build an object in Minecraft. This object can be a work of art or Dutch heritage in the vicinity of the school.

A workshop that meets 21st century skills: problem solving, creative thinking, collaboration, critical thinking and communication
